Thirteen Pieces for Organ by
- Walter Alcock
- Myles B. Foster
- Alfred Hollins
- John E. West
- William Wolstenholme
The ‘Edwardian’ in the title of this collection needs to be taken as a broad indication of the style of these little pieces, it is not chronologically precise. In this period a huge amount of music for church service use was published, and of this a very large proportion was extraordinarily uninteresting, worthy doubtless, but fatally dull.
However, a detailed examination of some of the contemporary publications does unearth a few pieces of substance, charm and, sometimes, eloquence; it is suggested that they might well find a use even today.
