Stephen has more to say about this great melody. (His ‘Meditation and Two Preludes’ on the same tune was issued a year ago, and there is also a hymn prelude on it in his ‘Ten Preludes and Postludes on Lent and Easter Hymns’). This piece would make a fine postlude for a Lenten or Passiontide service.
